An entry for 's contest. There's no way he won't see this, even though I haven't specifically noted him about it.
The aforementioned artist has previously specified that this character is a Chinese dragon. Somehow that sparked a bit of inspiration, and the result is what you see here.
The Chinese symbols on the left mean "burn", the name of the character. If taken separately, they mean "fever wound". At least, that's what the automatic translator I used told me.
Burn was hard to draw, since I had to look at various pictures of him and even guess at a few points. It's a heck of a thing, hosting a contest all about drawing your own character(s) without providing adequate reference pictures for them. But who can blame the guy, it's his first contest and he wasn't really expecting a lot of entries anyhow.
The hardest part was the character. The easiest part was the scroll itself. The Chinese lettering was somewhere in the middle, even considering the fact that the first time I accidentally used Japanese letters by mistake, and had to erase and try again.
I don't know how I'll do in this contest. There's no prize but first prize because of how few entries he's expecting. Maybe entering it was a mistake. The probability of winning any given contest is usually very low, but hey, there are only two other entries as of today, so I at least stand a chance.
